Ready to get real? This men's discipleship group and Bible study meets every other Monday at 7:00 p.m. and every other Friday at 6:30 a.m. to study spiritual growth and personal discipleship at home, on the job and in community. “If you continue in my Word, you are truly my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) These words from the Gospel of John aptly describe the goal of a men’s Bible study groups that meet. Our purpose is to explore God’s Word in the firm assurance that it has the power to free us up to be better husbands, fathers and citizens. Men of Faith are studying Martin Luther’s most important work: “The Bondage of the Will.” This book, written in response to Erasmus’ “The Freedom of the Will,” addresses the core issue of salvation: does man have anything to do with his own salvation, or is it all up to God? Do people seek God or does God seek them? Is natural man capable of choosing between good and evil, between God and Satan, or is he enslaved to sin until he is set free by Christ? “The Bondage of the Will” is a masterpiece of theological reasoning and is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant polemics ever written. |
